Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Vol. 11

This is volume 11 of the simplified Chinese edition of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, subtitled "Melee," corresponding to the climax of the Entertainment District Arc. Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira, and Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui confront the demons lurking in the Yoshiwara pleasure district and finally uncover their true identities: the Upper Rank Six sibling demons, Gyutaro and Daki. Sharing a single body and fighting as one, the siblings cannot be defeated by beheading just one of them—both necks must be severed simultaneously to destroy them. As the battle wears on, Tanjiro and Uzui fight with ever greater coordination, but Uzui, Inosuke, and Zenitsu are struck down one after another by the demons' vicious blades, and the tide turns sharply against them. The volume's central suspense lies in how Tanjiro, alone against two Upper Rank demons and gravely wounded, can find a way to break through at his limit. Alongside the fighting, the volume explores Tengen Uzui's resolve as a Hashira and the family behind him, as well as the tragic backstory of Gyutaro and Daki, giving this death match a weight of fate that extends beyond the exchange of blows. Visually, Koyoharu Gotouge employs rapid-fire paneling and numerous spread pages to depict the clash of Blood Demon Arts and Breathing Styles, making this one of the most action-dense stretches in the series.
