A+X is a team-up short-story series Marvel published from 2012 to 2014, pairing "one Avenger + one X-Man" in each issue and running two standalone short stories. This volume is issue #17 of the series, the second-to-last of the 18 issues. This issue contains two stories. The first is "Iron Man + Broo," written by Jeff Loveness and drawn by Paco Diaz: Broo, a student at the Xavier Institute, is sent by Beast to Avengers Tower to shadow Tony Stark for a day. Tony intends to go through the motions, but is quickly won over by Broo's startling genius, and the two face a robbery by the "Chessmen" gang, setting off a strange day that spans casinos, battlefields, and space. The second is Part 5 of the "Captain America + Cyclops" arc, written by Gerry Duggan and drawn by David Yardin. The story continues the serial that began in issue #13: Captain America is determined to arrest Cyclops, now a wanted fugitive, yet the two must join forces against a Skrull crisis, tracing it to Doctor Doom's laboratory and searching for Professor X's former students—the Skrull mutant squad Cadre K. In this issue, Doctor Doom appears at a farm in South Dakota and the two sides clash head-on; meanwhile, Cyclops leads his team to destroy Doom's Skrull experimental facility in Latveria, only to discover a terrifying prototype. This volume is issue #17 of the series.
