Peerless Flying Blade

Peerless Flying Daggers is a modern cultivation novel by web author Kong Shen, serialized on Youle Chinese Network under Zhangyue. Completed at roughly 7.04 million characters and 2,898 chapters, it begins when a meteor shower leaves young Nie Chen with a mysterious ring. Dwelling inside the ring is a battered stone figure who teaches him a secret flying-dagger art whose stages progress through wooden, iron, bronze, silver, and gold blades. After six years of arduous training, Nie Chen breaks through from the wooden-blade stage to the iron-blade stage, leaves his secluded hut, and returns to life at Tianhai University. The story then unfolds from the city into the cultivation world, the immortal realm, the divine realm, the sacred realm, and eventually the vast Hongmeng World and other planes. Through his trials, Nie Chen comes to lead forces including the Longevity Sect and the Star Pavilion, becomes entangled in power struggles and emotional conflicts, and gradually uncovers the origins of the ring and the hidden upheaval in the Hongmeng World. Centered on the flying dagger as its core image, the work combines a modern urban setting with a traditional cultivation leveling system; its enormous scale and elaborate hierarchy of realms make it one of Kong Shen's most representative long works.
