Volume 7

Black Sun XIII is a realistic spy thriller comic created by the Belgian and French comic artists W. Vance and J. Van Hamme; the Chinese edition was published by Northern Women and Children Publishing House in 12 volumes between 2002 and 2003, translated by Shi Xiaozhu. The book follows an amnesiac man who wakes up in a beach cabin: he has only a tattoo reading "XIII" and a bank key, and before he can figure out who he is, he is hunted by heavily armed men; he soon discovers that he is highly skilled in combat and is drawn into a vortex of political conspiracy, assassination, and family secrets, constantly switching sides and passing through dangers while searching for his identity. This volume is the seventh in the series, titled in Chinese Tribulation Reveals True Love. In this volume, the story continues the main line of the protagonist's search for identity and his flight, pushing tense action scenes and changes in relationships to a new stage while further unfolding the multi-party struggle over XIII's true identity. The artwork is realistic and detailed, with smooth lines and bright colors, and the narrative is tightly paced, combining the direct readability of a comic album with the cinematic feel of European and American comics; it is suitable for readers who like spy suspense and traditional action comics to read continuously.
