Volume 7

"12" is a 12-volume collection of Marvel superhero comics, built around the core stories of the Superman series. Arranged volume by volume, it presents a long-running serial in sequential installments so readers can follow it in order. This is Volume 7, positioned in the middle of the set: it carries forward the character relationships and story threads laid out in the first six volumes while leaving room for the progression through Volumes 8 to 12. As a Superman comics collection, the typical elements it involves include Clark Kent's dual identity, everyday life in Metropolis, superpowered battles, and the relationship between superheroes and ordinary human society. Superman as rendered by different writers and artists varies in style, and that is part of the pleasure of reading a long collection. Because each volume's scope and arrangement are determined by the publisher, the specific issues and stories included in this volume should be confirmed against the physical copy. Readers are advised to treat it as one link in a continuous reading chain and read it alongside the preceding and following volumes rather than in isolation. Those new to the series may first build an impression of the characters from the earlier volumes before entering this one, to reduce gaps in understanding caused by skipping ahead.
