14 Volume 4 is the fourth volume of the complete edition (SPP_COMIC) of 14, the representative work of Kazuo Umezu, master of Japanese horror manga. The traditional Chinese edition is published by Sharp Point Press, translated by Fu Guozhong, and runs about 330 pages. 14 was created between 1990 and 1995 and first serialized in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits; it is regarded as a spiritual sequel to Drifting Classroom: Drifting Classroom depicts the future after humanity's collapse, while 14 depicts how humanity heads toward destruction. The story begins with the prophecy that "everything will end at 14"—in a future with highly advanced biotechnology, even meat is produced by genetic engineering; one day, a life form that is neither human nor monster is born in a chicken culture tank at a food biotechnology plant, and at the same time green babies are born one after another around the world, forcing humanity to face an unprecedented crisis of survival. This volume is the fourth in the split complete edition, continuing the apocalyptic landscape set up in the first three volumes and advancing the main thread in which prophecy, alien life, and human choices intertwine; the complete edition series also includes an 18-page full-color true ending, color pages, and two-color pages. For the exact chapter range of this volume, please refer to the table of contents of the physical book. Note that this entry is the fourth volume of a series and should not be understood as an introduction to the whole set; for the complete story, please read in order from Volume 1.
