The most gripping part of reading this series is that it does not scare you with monsters that suddenly leap out; instead, as you turn through settings like factory culture tanks and green infants that seem "scientifically plausible," you gradually realize that something utterly out of control has already happened. Sharp Point's complete edition is made with considerable care: the trim size is enlarged to 25K, color pages and two-color pages are included, and an 18-page full-color true ending is added—a version worth re-collecting for longtime readers. Volume 3 sits in the early stretch of the series, exactly where the mysteries unfold layer by layer and readers begin to be led along.
