Summary

14 is Japanese horror manga master Kazuo Umezu's representative work after Drifting Classroom, opening with an apocalyptic prophecy: a fortune-teller leaves the warning that everything will end at age 14, and then unexplained anomalies begin to appear around the world. In a highly biotechnologically advanced future society, even the meat humans eat can be produced in factory culture tanks; one day, however, a life form of unknown origin surfaces in a chicken culture tank, and at the same time, strange green babies are born one after another around the world. Panic, suspicion, and religious fervor spread among the population, and the protagonist and his companions are forced to seek the truth at the edge of the collapse of human civilization: What is the Earth? What are humans? This volume is Volume 10 of the series' complete edition. Sharp Point Press's complete edition in Taiwan splits and rearranges the original four Japanese volumes into 13 volumes, uses an enlarged 25K format, redraws exclusive Taiwan covers, fully preserves the color pages and two-color pages, and includes an 18-page full-color true ending not found in the Japanese edition. Because Volume 10 is in the latter part of the whole work, the story is heading toward the climax of truth revealed and the final choice; the mystery of the green babies, the source of the biochemical disaster, and the true meaning of the age-14 prophecy will gradually converge. Readers are advised to start from Volume 1 to avoid spoilers of key information revealed later.
