This volume is the third collected edition of Catwoman from DC's "The New 52" era, originally titled Catwoman Vol. 3: Death of the Family, collecting Catwoman #0 and #13–18 plus a short story from Young Romance #1. It marks writer Ann Nocenti's opening arc on Catwoman, continuing from Vol. 2: Dollhouse: in Gotham, a crime-ridden city centered on Batman, Selina Kyle carries on her life as a thief operating in the gray zone while being drawn into the "Batman Family" crossover event "Death of the Family." The Joker sets his sights on everyone close to Batman, and Catwoman finds herself in the middle of this terrifying storm, forced to survive through a mix of cunning and calculation. Meanwhile, a new job comes her way: infiltrate the "Black Room" and steal the "black diamond," said to be the source of the evil god Eclipso's power—a job that makes everything even more difficult. The book is drawn by Rafa Sandoval and others in a style leaning toward dark crime and urban adventure, making it an important part of Catwoman's character arc in The New 52 era.
