Summary

This volume is issue #27 of the Catwoman series from DC's "New 52" era, corresponding to Catwoman Volume 4, launched in 2011. The story is titled "Happiness is a Cold Gun" and is part of the "Batman: Gothtopia" crossover event. In this distorted "ideal" Gotham, Selina Kyle is no longer a wanted thief but a vigilante called "Catbird," patrolling alongside Batman and openly in love with him, while street crime has all but vanished. Yet the near-perfect life is strange in every way: citizens commit suicide one after another, the Gotham peace department's help hotline is overwhelmed, and Batman himself begins to doubt the world before him, even losing emotional control and behaving outrageously, forcing Selina to join others in sending him to a treatment center. Back home, Selina retrieves her foul-smelling Catwoman suit from the trash, and in a nightmare is confronted by "another self": which side is the illusion? Finally, the appearance of an old nemesis gives her a glimpse of the real Gotham. Written by Ann Nocenti, with art by Patrick Olliffe, Cliff Richards, and others.

Editor's review

Who it's for

Not a good fit for

Reading tips

FAQ
