Summary

Vagabond is a long-running seinen manga created by Takehiko Inoue after Slam Dunk, adapted from Eiji Yoshikawa's historical novel Musashi. Set in Japan after the Battle of Sekigahara, the story follows seventeen-year-old Miyamoto Musashi and Matahachi Hon'iden as they flee the battlefield and become hunted deserters. Musashi then wanders alone, and through countless life-and-death duels and self-doubt he asks "what is strength," gradually maturing from a beast-like youth into mastery of both swordsmanship and character. The work is drawn with a brush, its strokes broad and fluid, and is widely regarded as a peak of manga expressiveness; it has won awards including the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize for Manga. This volume is Volume 13 of the Hong Kong Chinese edition published by Tiānxià Publishing (International) Co., Ltd., one of the 41-volume full-color series; this volume continues Musashi's training and duels after setting out on his journey and depicts how the people and opponents he meets change his understanding of the sword layer by layer. For specific panel layouts and plot arrangement, refer to the printed book; this page does not speculate.

Editor's review

Not a good fit for

Reading tips

FAQ
