Haunt, Volume 4

Haunt is a horror superhero comic created by Robert Kirkman, writer of The Walking Dead, and Todd McFarlane, father of Spawn. Launched by Image Comics in 2009, the creative team also includes Greg Capullo on layouts and line art and Ryan Ottley on art, with McFarlane himself handling inks and colors. The story centers on two estranged brothers: the younger, Daniel Kilgore, is a priest with worldly habits, while the elder, Kurt, is an agent working for a secret government agency. On a mission Kurt is killed for letting an experimental subject go and ruining the operation, and after death his soul attaches itself to Daniel. When Daniel is drawn into his brother's world and hunted, the two souls are forced to merge, and ectoplasm pours from Daniel's eyes, mouth, and ears to condense into a living black-and-white suit—and thus Haunt is born. This ectoplasm can form claws, spikes, and tentacles and grants him extraordinary strength, agility, climbing ability, and healing; but the merge continually consumes Daniel's life force, so the brothers must settle each fight in a very short time and must learn to compromise with each other inside one body. Meanwhile, forces such as the assassin Cobra and the crime boss Mr. Hurg still seek the missing research materials, and the mysterious woman Allegria seems to have known all along the truth behind the name "Haunt."
