Series: Haunt is an adults-only superhero series launched by Image Comics in October 2009, created by The Walking Dead writer Robert Kirkman and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane. In its early issues, Greg Capullo handled layouts, Ryan Ottley contributed pencils, and McFarlane himself inked and drew covers. The story centers on the Kilgore brothers: Daniel, the younger, is a Catholic priest with a messy personal life and wavering faith, while his older brother Kurt is an agent of a covert intelligence agency, and the two have long been estranged. When Kurt is killed on an operation, his ghost attaches itself to his brother and, at a critical moment, merges with Daniel's body; the ectoplasm surging between them forms a black "skin" that fuses them into one being with superhuman strength, speed, and tentacle-like, retractable attacks, becoming the entity known as Haunt. Forced to share a single body, the brothers bicker and depend on each other as they track down those behind Kurt's murder and the traitors inside the agency, while dealing with the various factions competing over "Dr. Shillinger's research." This volume is the 11th of the series (original Haunt #11, released August 2010), part of the first 18 issues written by Kirkman, following directly on the "agency line" of issues 6 through 12: Dr. Shillinger sought in life to bring about the resurrection of a death cult but ran into something far more lethal along the way, and that result has since been perfected by others, forcing Haunt to face his most powerful adversary since his debut.
