Summary
This volume is issue #41 of DC's 2016 The Flash series (The Flash Vol. 5), released on February 28, 2018. It is the third part of the six-issue story arc "Perfect Storm," written by Joshua Williamson. The story picks up directly from what came before: Gorilla Grodd, seeking to save himself, has stolen Barry Allen's Speed Force and frozen Central City in time, putting the entire population in danger. Stripped of his powers, Barry retreats to S.T.A.R. Labs and tries to reclaim the Speed Force with the lightning staff obtained from Raijin, while entrusting the task of protecting the city to the original Wally West, who has returned from the Speed Force. Wally moves citizens out of the city boundary one by one, only to find that no one remembers he exists. Kid Flash and Avery Ho, the Flash from China, resent being left out and decide to act on their own to rescue the "Negative Flash" under Grodd's control. This issue focuses on building the fractures within the Flash family: Barry stubbornly shoulders everything himself and becomes increasingly extreme, setting up the "Flash War" that follows.
Editor's review
