Illuminati Vol. 7
Tags
Summary
This volume corresponds to issue 7 of the Chinese edition of Marvel's Illuminati (2015–2016) series. Unlike the classic Illuminati, the secret organization formed by heroes such as Iron Man, Mr. Fantastic, and Doctor Strange, this series tells of a "villain version of the Illuminati" assembled by The Hood himself: taking advantage of the villains' outrage after the Avengers: Stand-Off event, he brings a group of super-powered criminals under his wing, with Titania, Mad Thinker, Thunderball, Black Ant, and others on his list. Issue 7 takes place in the aftermath of the Stand-Off event, and the original English issue centers on "recruitment day": former prisoners held at Pleasant Hill regain their freedom, and The Hood seizes the opportunity to win them over one by one, exploiting their resentment toward the Avengers. At the same time, this volume also turns its lens on the most restless member of the team—Titania: she had wanted to get out of the game and make a living with an honest job, only to discover that she had been schemed against by The Hood from the start and that he had "granted" her new powers through dark magic. Her relationship with her husband Absorbing Man also develops cracks because of what happened during the brainwashing in Stand-Off. Reading this volume, readers can see how trust within this "villain Illuminati" is hollowed out bit by bit, and what cracks appear in The Hood's ambitions and schemes.
Editor's review

Reading tips
FAQ
