The Transformation of a Spy

The Transformation of a Spy is a long urban espionage novel by the web novelist Anran Xiaohun, serialized on Qidian starting in 2005, complete at 234 chapters. The story follows an ill-fated agent: the protagonist is originally a Chinese-American FBI agent who grew up in the United States, only to gradually discover that those closest to him were assigned to watch him. After his identity is exposed, he narrowly escapes with the help of a colleague, but the colleague dies for it and his son is killed as well. Branded with the shame of having "called a thief father" and "having no homeland," he finally returns to China, joins a new group of companions, and throws himself into one thrilling espionage contest after another.
