Divine Stratagem

Summary
Set in a fictional ancient dynasty, the novel unfolds across three interconnected systems—martial arts, battle spirits, and mind manifestations—under the law that "the strong prevail." The protagonist, Wang Ce, begins his second life by transmigrating into a spy organization: born into a family of spies, he struggles upward from childhood trials, gradually mastering the unique power of "battle spirits," which allows him to summon and command the heroic souls of historical figures to fight on his behalf. Li Bai, Yue Fei, Gai Nie, Li Shishi, Qin Shi Huang, and others appear successively as battle spirits, each lending distinct lethal methods and temperaments to his martial path.
Running parallel to the battle spirits is a larger chessboard: the imperial court, sectarian factions, and powerful clans are intricately entangled, supporting yet guarding against one another amid fierce power struggles. Beyond martial competition, Wang Ce must navigate the cracks between human hearts, gradually building his own retinue and influence. As the plot advances, he gains the ability to resurrect and command ancient military formations—the brutal Qin legions, the mighty Han legions, the flourishing Tang legions—recreating the spectacle of sweeping across thousands of troops as he advances toward his goal of "forging a throne of power."
The narrative follows two threads: one is Wang Ce's personal growth and martial advancement, rising through realms such as the Qi Radiance Realm and the Breath Release Realm; the other is the political maneuvering around the imperial court and various factions, along with repeated legion-level confrontations. The book features both lighthearted, bantering dialogue and set pieces of large-scale battle formations and factional strife, maintaining attention to the power structure beyond mere wish-fulfillment satisfaction, and shaping a protagonist who is cunning, resourceful, and skilled at leveraging circumstances to his advantage.

Who it's for
A good fit for
Not a good fit for
Reading tips
