This volume is the third in the New 52 Green Arrow series, corresponding to the original English edition Green Arrow Vol. 3: Harrow (collecting Green Arrow #0 and #14–16, among other issues). Oliver Queen is at the lowest point of his life: his family fortune, his company Q-Core, and the arsenal he relies on have all slipped away, and his personal life, business empire, and vigilante identity are all teetering on the brink—even as blow after blow lands. A villain named Harrow sets his sights on the Seattle waterfront, smuggling guns into the city and terrorizing its residents with violence, plunging the entire city into fear. Oliver struggles to keep his increasingly unmanageable situation under control while still protecting the city he holds dear as Green Arrow. The book also includes a tie-in side story with Hawkman: Wanted: Green Arrow is forced to team up with an ally he does not trust—the savage Hawkman—to evade the Thanagarian police pursuing them and to determine whether Hawkman is a framed hero or a genuine criminal. As a transitional volume from the early New 52 era, this book continues writer Ann Nocenti's focus on urban crime, power, and the underclass, while laying the groundwork for Jeff Lemire's later takeover and the reinvention of Green Arrow's character. This is volume 3 of the series and is best read in order.
Editor's review
