Peerless Divine Power

Supreme Divine Power is a long-form Eastern fantasy novel by Jiangxi web novelist Canshang (real name Xu Geng). Serialization began in November 2015 and concluded in 2019, spanning approximately 11 million to 11.7 million Chinese characters across more than 3,400 chapters. At the story's outset, the protagonist Qin Xiao is a member of the Qin family in Ziyang Town. Though locally powerful, the Qin family is riven by internal strife and long viewed with suspicion by the city lord's manor. Singled out for his exceptional talent, Qin Xiao falls victim to a plot orchestrated by his eldest uncle in collusion with the city lord's manor. His foundation is destroyed, and the innate divine power he was meant to awaken is cut off, leaving his future bleak. In this dire strait, his unyielding resolve resonates with heaven and earth, awakening the supreme divine power "Divine Silence of the Gods." This power is not fixed but evolves with his cultivation, restoring Qin Xiao's damaged foundation and elevating his cultivation to new heights. From a remote town, he rises to the commandery city and then to the heart of power in the Great Desert Nation, becoming a Great Desert Guard. Leaving the nation behind, he ventures across the Nine Provinces, earns a place on the Nine Provinces Mountain and River Rankings, and joins the foremost divine palace, the Ember Palace. He then enters the Primordial Universe, which encompasses the Divine Realm, the Abyssal Realm, the Demon Beast Realm, and the Nether Realm, ultimately reaching the pinnacle of the Great Thousand World, forging his own Dao, and waging a final decisive battle against the Night Envoys, who represent darkness. Built around the concept of "divine power," the novel unfolds a sprawling progression from a mortal town to the apex of the cosmos through strictly tiered cultivation realms and successive shifts in setting, weaving together family feuds, brotherhood, swordsmanship, and power struggles. Canshang has said the book embodies the passionate, heroic, and gratifying tale of vengeance he had always wanted to write, and that it is the work into which he poured the most effort and which achieved his greatest success. The novel won the fiction award at the inaugural Hongmai Literature Awards and was selected among the annual top 100 works at the fourth Chenggua Online Literature Awards. An audiobook edition is also available.
