Runaways Vol. 2

This volume is the second collection of Rainbow Rowell and Kris Anka's relaunch of the Runaways series (serialized from 2017), gathering original issues #7–12. The first volume brought the long-scattered original members back together; this one focuses on "how to live after the reunion": six teenagers who once ran away from home now squeeze into a single hideout and try to live like a family—but a family needs guardians, and the only member whose life is "more or less in order" is still in high school. School registration, parent-teacher meetings, guardian signatures—the most ordinary chores become problems for a group of super-powered teens. New faces keep appearing too: Karolina's girlfriend Julie Power, of the Power Pack, joins them for a time, and a veteran with field experience both reassures the team and leaves some of them uneasy. Meanwhile, Molly faces a tempting offer with a possibly terrible price; Karolina's former celebrity status is dug up; Gert fiddles with the time-travel technology her parents left behind; and the change in Victor catches everyone off guard. The story remains an ensemble youth drama: fights, bickering, confessions, sulking, mixed with the question of what family really means.
