Star-Lord Vol. 2
Tags
Summary
This volume is issue #2 of the 2016 Marvel Star-Lord second series, and the second part of the "Grounded" storyline by writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Kris Anka. Following the setup of the previous issue, the Guardians of the Galaxy are stranded on Earth for various reasons, and leader Peter Quill (Star-Lord) must temporarily leave his interstellar life behind and settle in New York—which, for him, is trickier than facing any cosmic threat. This volume continues the "Mr. Grounded" episodic plot: Quill, accustomed to the stars, is forced to fit into ordinary people's daily order, and what he faces are no longer alien fleets but a whole set of Earthling rules, neighbors, old acquaintances, and the collision between the trouble he caused across the galaxy and Earth law. Earth heroes such as Daredevil and Ms. Marvel also cross paths with him, making the situation of this "new guardian of Earth" even more absurdly funny. Published as a single issue, it is short and leans toward character work and humorous beats; it is an important piece for understanding the style of Zdarsky's solo Star-Lord series. For the full picture, read it together with issue #1 and the issues that follow.
Editor's review
