This is Mighty Avengers (2013) #12, a tie-in to the Original Sin event, with the story cutting between 1972 and the present day. On election night in 1972, under a moonless sky, something unspeakable approaches Manhattan, and the only thing that can stop it is a 'first generation' of Mighty Avengers never fully told in canon: Jim Lucas, Luke Cage's father, Blade, Blue Marvel, Kaluu, and others. Their enemy is an ancient being called the Deathwalkers, and this encounter explains why Jim chose to distance himself from his family out of fear and helplessness. In the present, Luke Cage finally confronts the father who was absent for years and hears the whole story; meanwhile, the Deathwalkers reappear, Molina and Kaluu explain their origins and their plan to destroy the world, and the old and new generations of Mighty Avengers are pushed toward the same confrontation. This is issue #12 of the series, a single issue that leads into the next issue's head-on battle.
