Crazy Repair

Crazy Repair is a long-form urban supernatural novel by the web author Jue Wu Wo, serialized on Qidian.com starting in 2013 and completed in December 2016. It comprises 593 chapters and roughly 2.8 million Chinese characters. The protagonist, Cheng Xiaoyu, is an ordinary young man from a small town who moves to the city to make a living. Slightly overweight and mild-mannered, he barely gets by repairing and trading secondhand electronics, and struggles in both his love life and his career. After an accident, he gains a "repair" ability—at first limited to fixing objects like phones and computers, but its scope steadily expands, from damaged machinery to the human body and even to larger things. Using this ability as the narrative fulcrum, the novel follows the protagonist as he rises from a bottom-rung "slacker" to gradually open doors, accumulate resources, and expand his business and social networks, ultimately achieving a leap in social class. The writing follows the familiar path of Qidian urban fiction: a nobody gets his start, uses one unique skill to pry open real-world difficulties, and pushes forward through a cycle of business rivalries, social dealings, and romantic threads. The pace is brisk, with a clear emphasis on wish-fulfillment and grassroots inspirational appeal. The book has never been physically published; it was mainly serialized on online platforms, and fan-compiled, carefully proofread e-versions circulate among readers.
