This is issue #30 of Venom Vol. 2 (2011–2013), titled "The Unwanted," written by Cullen Bunn with lead artists Thony Silas and Roger Robinson, published by Marvel on January 16, 2013. The story takes place in Philadelphia: Flash Thompson, as Agent Venom, confronts a string of disappearances caused by the U-Foes, who use alien technology to abduct and experiment on civilians, escalating the situation into a citywide crisis. Meanwhile, Thompson is host to a demon that entered his body after being branded by the demon lord Hellstrom, and the psychological suspense of who controls the body—Thompson, the symbiote, or the demon—runs through the entire issue. Flash must rescue his friend within limited time, stop the alien organisms from spreading, and prevent Philadelphia from being dragged into disaster. At the issue's end, an old enemy appears in an unexpected identity: Eddie Brock returns, calling himself "Toxin" and issuing a new threat and declaration to Thompson, setting up the following storyline. This is issue #30 of the series, approximately 21 pages of story, a standard single issue rather than a collected edition.
