Summary
This is issue #8 of the Venom series (2011–2013) and part 3 of the Spider-Island crossover event, released on October 26, 2011. The story follows the Spider-Island event: as a spider-transformation crisis grips all of New York City, Flash Thompson, bonded with Venom, is reeling from the devastating blow of his father's death yet must still carry out his mission as a military agent. In this issue, the members of Project Rebirth 2.0 restore the mutated Spider-King—actually Commander Steve Rogers—to his original form; Venom then joins forces with Commander Rogers to confront the Queen, Adriana Soria, in a decisive underground battle in Central Park. The Queen suppresses the symbiote with telekinesis and sonic waves, and the tide of battle turns several times. Meanwhile, the letter Flash's father left him remains unfinished, serving as the emotional core of this issue. This is volume 8 of the series.
