Wu Di Tian Xia

Wu Di Tian Xia is an Eastern fantasy novel by the web novelist Zhan Pao Ran Xue. It has been serialized on Qidian since 2014 and is now complete. The protagonist, Chen Qian, is reborn as the son of an escort-agency man in the Great Ning Dynasty, a realm where martial prowess is esteemed. From childhood, he is set on a steady path of practicing martial arts and breathing exercises by the book. After ten years of training, he remains stuck at the Breath-Locking stage of the Mortal-Fetus realm for nearly three years, unable to sense the subtle shifts of power within his body, and his road ahead seems blocked. Then a chance opens: the skills of his past life merge with his present pursuit of martial arts, granting him the ability to analyze all martial arts under heaven. Starting from a slow, clumsy Breaking-Formation Fist in the escort agency's back courtyard, he climbs steadily upward amid the struggles of sects, clans, the imperial court, and various factions, from Mortal-Fetus to Hidden-Spirit, from blood-and-qi to qi-phase, drawing ever closer to the true meaning of the martial way. The work's stated theme is that martial arts break down barriers, scale heights, defeat enemies without, and nourish the body within. Its martial-arts system is finely detailed, fight scenes are dense, and it weaves together court intrigue and jianghu bloodshed. It is one of the author's more representative early full-length works.
