The Law of Ueki, Volume 6

The Law of Ueki is a shonen manga by Tsubasa Fukuchi, serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday since 2001. It ran for 16 volumes, and a Traditional Chinese edition was published by Ching Win. The story follows Kosuke Ueki, a first-year student at Hinokuni Middle School, who receives from his homeroom teacher Mr. Kobayashi the power to turn trash into trees and is drawn into a tournament in which 100 candidates for godhood each choose a middle school student as their proxy, with the battles deciding the next god. The rules are strict: harm an innocent and the user loses one of their Talents, while defeating another power user earns them an additional Talent. Volume 6 collects chapters 48 through 56 of the original, an important stretch of the Robert's Ten arc. Facing Don, an opponent whose power is only two stars against Ueki's four, Ueki has his newly summoned defensive sacred weapon shattered with ease; the crushing defeat makes him realize that to uphold his justice he must become stronger, and Tenko, the heavenly beast, sends him into his own body's awakened organ for a life-or-death training regimen. After the training his strength rises sharply, but new assassins from Robert's Ten—Marco, Rinko, and Myojin—arrive in quick succession. During the fighting, Rinko's feelings as an enemy shift unexpectedly, and Mr. Kobayashi's past and his justice are revealed. This is the sixth volume of the series.
