War God Transformation is the fifth full-length work by Xiaodao Fengli (real name Song Xiaoyu). It began serialization on Qidian Chinese Network on December 16, 2011, and concluded in May 2013, totaling over seven hundred chapters and roughly 2.27 million characters. The story is set in a vast and mysterious world of battle aura, where martial masters lurk everywhere and the path of cultivation demands contention with heaven, earth, and fellow humans—never kneeling, never yielding. The protagonist Teng Fei comes from a minor clan; his father died early, his mother's whereabouts are unknown, and he struggles to master either battle aura or martial techniques, earning him the label of "trash" and endless contempt at his clan's training grounds. One day by chance he rescues a white-robed woman named Lu Ziling, an otherworldly figure who purifies his marrow, reshapes his meridians, and opens the door to the path of power. From there he cultivates relentlessly, rising from Battle Master through Great Battle Master, Battle Venerable, Battle Saint, all the way to King rank, Great Emperor, Divine Emperor, Heavenly King, and ultimately cosmic powerhouse, battling through clan feuds, dynastic upheavals, holy lands and demon palaces, and wars beyond the realm, while gradually uncovering the truth of his own origins. The work centers on leveling up through combat and avenging past wrongs, with strands of camaraderie and romance woven in; its tiered realm system makes it a quintessential example of Qidian-style Eastern fantasy.
