The Chronicle of Genesis

The Chronicle of Genesis is a long Eastern fantasy novel by Xue Hong, a platinum author of Yuewen Group. It was serialized on Qidian from September 10, 2018 to April 17, 2020, totaling about 4.4937 million Chinese characters in 1,157 chapters. Built around the theme "Survival is easy. Living is hard. What our people want is not abject survival but to live with heads held high and proud. Our people swear never to be slaves!", the novel follows the fate of Wu Tie, a youth of the barbarian tribes. At the outset, Wu Tie is frail and poor at cultivation when the Wu family is suddenly attacked by powerful enemies. His father and elder brother die one after another; his brother Wu Jin kneels and begs for mercy to protect him, but is killed all the same. Protected by his bloodline and a fortuitously obtained "Chiyou Fang", Wu Tie escapes through the water and later encounters a medical ancient divine weapon who calls himself "Lao Tie", setting out on the path of cultivation. Beginning in the underground world, the novel gradually unfolds the power struggles of Nuwa Valley, Black Snake Domain, the Great Dragon Cavern, and Sanlian City, then follows Wu Tie as he infiltrates the surface world, earns military merit in the Great Jin, rises through the ranks as Commander of the Great Marsh Army, Marquis of Longjiang, and Duke of Yuzhou, is drawn into dynastic change and the rise and fall of divine kingdoms, and finally reaches the last war between humanity and the outer divine races. The world-building is vast: dwarves, exotic beasts, beast tribes, humans, and outer divine races are arranged in strict hierarchies, while divine weapons, bloodlines, and true-form families form systems of their own. The human realms proceed from Foundation Building, Sense the Mystic, Layered Tower, Life Pool, Womb Store, Divine Illumination, Venerable, Quasi-Sage, Sage, Primordial Sage, to Immortal Sage. Centered on "the dignity and resistance of a people", the book is one of Xue Hong's more substantial representative works from his later period.
