Blood Song of the Three Realms

Blood Song of the Three Realms is a xianxia fantasy cultivation novel by the web author Xue Hong, following works such as The Way of the Evil Dragon and The Era of Light. It began serialization on Qidian in February 2014 and runs to more than four million Chinese characters in over a thousand chapters; it is now complete. The story is set at the end of the Dharma-ending Age, when the gates between the realms reopen. In remote antiquity, gods, sages, immortals, and Buddhas ranged across the cosmos; then the laws collapsed and the spirit veins dissolved, leaving no immortals or sages in the world. When the Dharma-ending Age finally ends, the gates of the three realms reopen, the blessed cave-heavens open one by one, suppressed demons and gods emerge, and ancient grudges come due. The protagonist is a half-demon youth who still keeps a trace of kindness and tenderness; his mother was defiant and rebellious, his father a spoiled rake, and the burden of his origins brings him scorn and suppression within his clan until he is forced into a vortex that engulfs the three realms and sets out on a path of slaughter—'with the blood of all living things, turning blood into a blade.' The novel's cultivation system is carefully designed, divided into mortal and immortal realms; on the mortal side run two parallel tracks, Eastern cultivators (body tempering, qi refining, golden core, nascent soul...) and Western blood demons (child, star warrior, baron, duke...), alongside immortal-root grades, Daoist soldiers, and innate spirit treasures. The two systems mirror each other without simple correspondence, and victory in battle depends more on treasures, secret arts, and improvisation—one of the book's praised features. The tone is hot-blooded and grim, the protagonist decisive: a typical male-oriented leveling power fantasy.
