Nemesis 2

Nemesis is a creator-owned series by Mark Millar and artist Steve McNiven, their third collaboration after Civil War and Wolverine: Old Man Logan, published by Marvel's Icon Comics. The main run comprises four issues (May–December 2010). Its original tagline was "What if Batman were the Joker?", a premise that prompted concern from DC and led to the original cover being scrapped; the "Nemesis" of the title is a supervillain who pairs Batman-like cunning and physical prowess with Joker-like malice and gleeful sadism. His real name is Matthew Anderson: when he was a child, his parents were arrested by police officer Blake Morrow for luring and murdering runaway children, after which he went abroad to study criminal techniques and technology. As an adult he hunts and kills police officers regarded as heroes around the world, working his way from Tokyo to Washington to exact premeditated revenge on Blake Morrow and his family. The series blends extreme violence with black humor and deliberately inverts the moral coordinates of heroic narrative. This volume is the second book of the Chinese collection, covering the second part of the main story (original issues 3 and 4, following the Tokyo massacre and the escalating contest between Nemesis and the police); as the exact contents of the Chinese volumes cannot be reliably verified, the specific plot and table of contents should be confirmed against the physical book.
