Daredevil Vol. 4 #14

This is issue #14 of Daredevil Vol. 4 (launched in 2014, 21 issues total), the Mark Waid and Chris Samnee run, released March 25, 2015, with Marvel legacy numbering Daredevil #562. The story picks up as Matt Murdock restarts his life in San Francisco: he runs a law firm with Kirsten McDuffie while negotiating with publisher Wendell McDuffie to release his autobiography, ghostwritten by Foggy Nelson. Pressed by Wendell, Matt abandons the pretense of a mask and secret identity altogether, donning an unmasked red-and-black three-piece suit and appearing openly in both the courtroom and the streets, declaring he has only one identity—Matt Murdock is Daredevil. Kirsten and Foggy each harbor misgivings about this almost arrogant candor, and the San Francisco police are equally unimpressed. In the main plot, Matt meets Jubula Pride, a young woman searching the city for her missing father; she is the daughter of the Owl, Leland Owlsley, is highly skilled in combat, and fights alongside Daredevil from her very first appearance. Their investigation leads them to Alcatraz, where they discover the Owl is not the mastermind but a captive, while Max Coleridge, the Shroud, conceals his true scheme in the shadows. The issue opens with the brightest self-revelation of Matt's life, yet by its end the shadows are drawn back into the frame.
