This volume is No. 9 of the Avengers Vol. 7 series, corresponding to Marvel's Avengers (2016) issue 9, written by Mark Waid and drawn by Michael Del Mundo, a tie-in chapter to the Secret Empire event. At this point Captain America's past has been rewritten by a Cosmic Cube and he has risen as the Supreme Leader of Hydra, leaving the Avengers unsettled. As the teammates are forced to choose again between loyalty and conviction, one Avenger is far from the battlefield: Jane Foster, then Thor, has been cast into a nameless land and must survive alone without Mjolnir. She must cross a strange and dangerous landscape to find a device that may send her back to Earth; and as time passes, without Mjolnir she draws ever closer to the limit at which she will revert to the ordinary human Jane Foster. In almost the tone of a personal adventure, this volume tells of a hero's struggle with her own identity, the source of her power, and whether she can still get home, and is an important side thread for understanding the Avengers' situation during Secret Empire. This is No. 9 in the series.
