The Power of the Bird's-Eye View

Summary
If Dan-sha-ri teaches us to use the philosophy of subtraction to manage our relationship with things, Overlook Power teaches us to go further and, through the philosophy of addition, perceive a deeper self.
Overlook Power is a profound capacity for careful attention that we already possess, awakened by the action philosophy of Dan-sha-ri, and it can be applied to all kinds of people, events, and things.
Starting from Dan-sha-ri, build deeper insight, a loftier perspective, and a broader field of vision, and become a joyful person with the power to decide and to act!

About the author
Hideko Yamashita is the founder of the Japanese concept of "danshari" (decluttering) and a clutter-management consultant. Born in Tokyo in 1954, she graduated from the Faculty of Letters at Waseda University. As a university student she encountered the yoga philosophy of "danting, shating, and riting" and transformed it into a practical method of everyday tidying. Since 2000 she has held lectures across Japan to promote this idea. Her writing centers on home organization and lifestyle, and also extends to life choices and parenting, with common categories including inspirational growth, social science, education, and fashion. Her representative works include Danshari and The Power of Overlook, and 18 of her titles are included in the collection. The Danshari series has had wide influence, making "danshari" a popular term in everyday life.
Zhang Lu (1617–1699), courtesy name Luyu and styled Shiwang Laoren in his later years, was a native of Changzhou in Jiangnan (present-day Suzhou, Jiangsu) and a renowned physician of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. After the fall of the Ming he lived in seclusion on Dongting Mountain for more than a decade before returning to Suzhou to practice medicine, where he earned a high reputation and was counted, together with Yu Chang and Wu Qian, among the three great physicians of the early Qing. His Zhang shi yi tong (Comprehensive Medicine According to Mr. Zhang) circulated widely, and he also wrote works on cold damage disorders, materia medica, formulas and pulse diagnosis, making contributions in each of these fields. His writings are known for clinical practicality and clear organization and are valued by later physicians. This site holds twenty works under his name, chiefly medical, though some fall under world history, foreign literature and inspirational growth, suggesting that certain entries have been grouped under him from different authors. Public information on the details of his life is limited, and readers should consult prefaces to his books and histories of medicine for further study.
