Mockingbird Vol. 5

This is Volume 5 of the series. While investigating a mysterious virus that has entered her body, Barbara "Bobbi" Morse (codename Mockingbird, S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 19) comes to a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. medical station beneath New York. She had previously undergone blood draws and examinations here, and the station's researchers used her blood samples in experiments on corpses, inadvertently reviving a batch of bodies into uncontrollable attackers that surge toward Bobbi, drawn by their connection to the virus's host. Battling her way back through the corridors with her fighting skills and batons, Bobbi discovers that the strange abilities the virus has given her prove decisive at key moments. Along the way she runs into Howard the Duck, also trapped in the station, and Miles Morales, Spider-Man, who has come in for treatment, and the three lend each other a hand amid the chaos. As she pushes forward level by level, the truth of the experiment and the location of the "antiviral agent" gradually surface, and Bobbi must choose between purging the virus and returning to normal, or keeping the changes it has brought—as a biochemist, she has her own views on "evolution." This volume pairs action with deadpan humor and continues the series' narrative pleasure of "one day per volume, with interlocking timelines."
