Summary

The second volume of In the Name of the King. The story continues the otherworld-transport setup of the first: classmates Li Xin and Wang Ming unexpectedly arrive on the Ming God Continent, the former becoming the continent's Protector and the latter its new Ming King; the Eight Ministries of the Ming God—Battle God, War Ghost, Wondrous Craft, Strange Arts, Law Department, and Heaven's Mechanism—must submit to the king chosen by the Protector, while the Imperial Attendants follow as "the king's other half," guarding his soul. In this volume the flames of war on the Ming God Continent burn ever fiercer: the Battle God Ministry and the Strange Arts Ministry once again form an alliance, becoming the Protector's and the king's most powerful enemies; the Red Lotus, said to be invincible, unleashes a mysterious ultimate technique, its garish red and frenzied slaughter becoming an inescapable nightmare for all; and Yanhua and Galan, long at odds, reveal affections hard to fathom amid the bonds between the eight ministries and the nobility.
