Ancestor of All Ghosts is a long-form Eastern fantasy and cultivation novel serialized on Qidian, the flagship platform of China Literature. Written by the author Lone Drifter, it was first published on October 28, 2013, and has been completed at approximately 1.52 million Chinese characters. The story unfolds in the Thirty-Three Heavens, a world where the Six Realms have collapsed and the Heavenly Dao has faded from sight: here there is neither good nor evil, neither immortals nor demons are distinguishable, the virtuous are oppressed while the wicked roam free, and the powerful regard all living beings as ants. Catastrophes known as "Heavenfall" repeatedly reduce countless lives to bleached bones overnight. Yan Fusheng, a young man from Earth, is struck by a mysterious black stone from beyond the heavens and transmigrates into the Blood Moon Realm. In the city of Tieniu in the Kingdom of Qixi, he takes charge at just twenty years of age. From there, building upon the black stone and a mysterious inheritance, he forges a Soul Ladder, cultivates ghost-path divine powers, rallies army spirits, allies with Ghost Valley, and breaks the Ghost-Subduing Sect. He then uses the power of the Ghost Gate to enter the Underworld, establishes a city in Fengdu, forges the Book of Life and Death, and builds the Wheel of Reincarnation. He formally founds the Netherworld, takes yin virtue as its legal code and reincarnation as its penal law, and declares war on the various sects of the living world. In the end, he ascends to supremacy in a ghostly body and is honored as the Ancestor of All Ghosts, sovereign over life and death across all heavens. The book is divided into volumes including "Ghost Domain of Heavenfall," "Sky-Dream Swamp," "The Underworld," "War Against the Living World," "Setting the Blood Moon," and "The Phantom Bone Ship." It is a work of revenge and order reconstruction centered on the institution-building of the ghost path.
