Superman: Doomed #1

Superman: Doomed #1 is the opening special issue of the Superman-family crossover event during DC's "New 52" era, published on May 14, 2014, totaling 48 pages, written jointly by Greg Pak, Charles Soule, and Scott Lobdell, with Ken Lashley as lead artist. The story begins with Doomsday escaping the Phantom Zone and causing heavy casualties worldwide: the flesh of Doomsday now carries a virus capable of burning everything around it, and only Superman can withstand it head-on. The Justice League meets to discuss countermeasures, and Lex Luthor points out that Doomsday is devouring victims' life force to accumulate power. Superman battles Doomsday in outer space, the fighting spreads all the way to a small town, and Superman finally tears him in two; to prevent the toxin from spreading, he absorbs all the viral spores from the flesh into his own body and immediately loses consciousness. Victory brings no peace: the absorption allows the virus into Superman's body, and he begins to transform into a Doomsday-like form, his temperament turning violent, while the Fortress's security system no longer recognizes his DNA. Under the gaze of the Justice League and companions including Lois, Lana, and Wonder Woman, Superman embarks on the next chapter of the "Infected" storyline. This volume is issue #1 of the series and the prologue to the entire storyline.
