Summary
This volume is issue #5 of FF (Future Foundation), written by Jonathan Hickman, continuing directly from the events of Fantastic Four #588. The Human Torch, who sacrificed himself in the "Three" arc, left a final wish: if anyone were to fill the team's empty place, it should be his best friend Spider-Man. So Reed and Sue Richards, the Thing and Spider-Man, together with the children of the Future Foundation, form a new team to continue exploring and guarding the world. This issue is titled "...The Sound of War" and belongs to the build-up of the "War of the Four Cities." In the story, the Invisible Woman, Spider-Man and Alex Power confront the forces of the "evil Reed" from other parallel universes and the Mole Man, who seize "Old Atlantis"; meanwhile the Thing, having left the team, visits Alicia Masters, and the two reexamine their relationship. Reed and Sue clash at the Baxter Building over the existence of the "evil Reed," and cracks appear in the couple's trust. At the end of the issue, Black Bolt returns with the Inhumans and the floating city of Attilan, laying groundwork for greater conflicts to come.
