Summary
This volume is issue #1 of Jonathan Hickman's FF (Future Foundation) series, picking up directly after Fantastic Four #588. Following the "Three" event, Johnny Storm (the Human Torch) is presumed dead, and Reed, Sue, and Ben no longer operate as the Fantastic Four; instead they reorganize the team into the Future Foundation—a research and exploration organization of scientists, superheroes, and brilliant children, all wearing new white uniforms with black piping. In his will, the Human Torch invites Peter Parker, Spider-Man, to join and take his place. The core event of this issue is the Future Foundation's debut: the Richards family joins new members, Valeria's children (Franklin and Valeria), Alex Power, Dragon Man, Leech, Artie, and several rescued alien and subterranean children to form the new lineup; meanwhile, A.I.M. abducts the Wizard, and Doctor Doom, Victor von Doom, appears at the end of the story, hinting at a separate bargain between Valeria and Doom. As the opening of the series, this issue uses a group introduction and a cliffhanger to lay the first piece of Hickman's later grand narrative.
Editor's review

FAQ
