FF #13

This issue is FF (Future Foundation) #13 of the 2011 series, the second part of the "All Hope Lies in Doom" storyline, occurring simultaneously with Fantastic Four #601. The children of the Future Foundation agree to repair the Bridge—the passage connecting different universes—so that the last surviving Reed of the Council of Reeds can return to his own world. But when the passage opens, what waits on the other side is an angry Mad Celestial host. Nathaniel Richards explains to his granddaughter Valeria that a series of events are converging toward a critical point that will decide the future—the resurrection of Black Bolt, the rebirth of the Supreme Intelligence, the war between the Kree and the Inhumans, Johnny Storm's return with Annihilus, and the appearance of Galactus—and that the Mad Celestials intend to erase this reality in order to destroy the last member of the Council of Reeds. Nathaniel believes the only feasible approach is to trade time for opportunity, delaying the Celestials' arrival on Earth for a moment so that key events can be changed. In the battle, the Council's "Alpha Reed" is eager to retrieve his Infinity Gauntlet, and Kristoff Vernard demands that Reed release his control over Doctor Doom. When Reed refuses, Valeria threatens him with the Ultimate Nullifier; Franklin and Leech run off alone toward the Celestials, and Franklin turns the incoming energy into flowers, making the Celestials realize that this child possesses the power to shape the universe. This volume is issue #13 of the series, with a 22-page main story.
