Bat-Mite #6

This is the final issue of the six-issue limited series Bat-Mite (issue #6, "Home Is Where the Cape Is"), written by Dan Jurgens with art by Corin Howell. As the story opens, the imp Bat-Mite's real-world "remodeling" has thoroughly angered the U.S. authorities: he has carved Mount Rushmore into a group portrait of the Bat-family, turned the Washington Monument into an Aquaman water slide, transformed the Statue of Liberty into Wonder Woman, and barged into the Oval Office to "offer suggestions" to the president. His long-suffering liaison, Reagan Bennington, faces disciplinary action as a result, and his roommate Weed is at a loss. Meanwhile, Bat-Mite recognizes from a campaign billboard that the villain Gridlock—trapped in the past and trying to bring the world to a standstill—is actually Senator Hardgrave. He confronts him directly but is once again knocked out by gas, and wakes to find himself locked in a home theater, where Gridlock intends to make him watch the never-aired pilot of Galaxy Trek before killing him. Bat-Mite turns the tables by sending Gridlock into the fictional world of that show, granting him his "wish." The silent sentinels of the Fifth Dimension then appear to take Bat-Mite back for trial; he takes a solemn leave of Reagan and Weed, telling them they were already good and had no need to be "fixed." Back in the Fifth Dimension, the three hooded figures do not punish him but reveal themselves as the Justice Mites of America, invite him to rejoin, and inform him that a new threat, Canceltron, has emerged. This is the sixth issue of the series and the closing chapter of the entire run.
