The Death of Hawkman #2

The Death of Hawkman is a six-issue miniseries released by DC in October 2016, originally titled Hawkman & Adam Strange: Out of Time before being changed to its current, more ominous title. It is written by Marc Andreyko with art by Aaron Lopresti. The story revolves around the long-standing interstellar feud between Rann and Thanagar: Adam Strange, retired on Earth and trying to live an ordinary life, is swept back to Rann by a seemingly routine Zeta Beam, only to find the capital city Ranagar in ruins and millions dead, and his gentle lover Alanna clamoring for revenge against their old enemy Thanagar. The true culprit is the classic villain Despero, who uses mind control to make the people of Rann believe the attack came from Thanagar, driving the two civilizations step by step toward full-scale war. This volume is issue #2 of 6, released November 2, 2016, 32 pages, with the subtitle "Out of Time Part Two: Blood in the Veins." In this issue, Adam Strange, imprisoned on Rann and accused of being a Thanagarian spy, unexpectedly receives help from Hawkman, who comes to rescue him; Katar Hol knows his own people did not launch the devastating attack and is struggling to uncover the true culprit and motive. The two endangered space heroes form a temporary alliance, trying to uncover the truth before war erupts.
