Hawkman Vol. 4 Book 5

Hawkman Vol. 4 is a solo Hawkman series published by DC Comics from May 2002 to April 2006, totaling 49 issues, written by Geoff Johns, James Robinson, and others, with pencils by Rags Morales and others. The story centers on Carter Hall and Kendra Saunders (Hawkgirl), a pair of fated lovers reincarnated through the ages: Kendra has never been able to accept her past-life bond with Hawkman and is determined to uncover the truth behind her parents’ death years earlier. Following clues, she travels to St. Roch and later goes with Carter to India to find the key figure Danny; the journey turns into an adventure reminiscent of Indiana Jones and gradually reveals the truth behind her parents’ murder. Meanwhile, ancient foes such as the Shadow Thief and Copperhead keep interfering, forcing the two to test and build trust amid investigation and battle. This volume is the fifth book of the series, corresponding to issue #5 of the original run, and is the opening part of the “Slings and Arrows” storyline; Green Arrow Oliver Queen appears at this stage, weaving a story of old grudges and new alliances with Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Readers who want to understand the full main storyline will find this an early link in the relationship arc between Hawkman and Hawkgirl.
