Hawkman Vol. 4 No. 11

This volume is the 11th issue of the Hawkman Vol. 4 series, corresponding to the English original Hawkman (2018-) #11, and is the fourth part of the "Cataclysm" storyline. Carter Hall had previously unleashed his newly awakened power, letting dozens of "Hawkmen" step out from within him—not phantoms but true incarnations of his past lives: among them Katar-Ol of Krypton, the Silent Knight of Britain, Nighthawk of the Old West, the Hawkworld star policeman Katar Hol of Thanagar, and the "Dragon of Barbatos" who appeared in Dark Nights: Metal. These Hawkmen across time and space form a winged army and face the army of the Deathbringers head-on above London, while Carter himself fights hand-to-hand on the ground with his old enemy Idamm. Carter pierces Idamm with a spear and thinks the victory is settled, only to discover in shock that his enemy is immortal—a turn that sends the battle into a sharp reversal; meanwhile, the numerically superior Deathbringers gradually overwhelm the Hawkman legion. This volume is dominated by dense battle scenes; while advancing the "Cataclysm" storyline toward its conclusion, it concentrates on displaying the narrative possibilities inherent in Hawkman's core premise of "reincarnation," making it a key transitional volume in the entire arc.
