Summary
This volume, Aquaman #42, corresponds to DC's Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis #42, "Deep Down," the third part of the six-issue arc "Once and Future." The newly introduced Aquaman, Arthur Joseph Curry, lacking the guidance of the Deep Dweller, follows King Shark to an undersea black-market trading post, only to be mistaken once again for the legendary Aquaman and leave the bar in frustration. At sea, he encounters the mermaid dancer Tya from the bar; after she kisses him, he loses consciousness and wakes to find a group about to rob and kill him. In a rage he brings the entire building down to escape, then returns to Maine with King Shark. On the way he is summoned by a mysterious beacon and boards the floating city "Windward Home," built by WWII hero Jimmy Lockhart. The city is home to scientists, philosophers, and mystics, including Dane Dorrance and members of the Sea Devils, who ask him to help confront a crisis even the original Aquaman would struggle to handle. Throughout, Arthur's inner struggle over whether to bear the name "Aquaman" forms the main thread.
Editor's review

FAQ
