Demon's Arrival

Demon's Arrival is a long-form web novel by Chun Jie Di Xiao Long, a platinum author at China Literature. It was serialized on Qidian from October 15, 2019, and completed in September 2024, totaling about 5.3 million Chinese characters. The story opens with an ancient prophecy: one day the Demon King will descend upon the world, and the seven demon lords under his command will bring despairing darkness. The protagonist, Zheng Fan, was in his previous life the lead creator at a horror comic studio; when the studio disbanded and he was near death, he alone continued writing the ending for the comic about seven demon kings. When he opens his eyes again, he is on an ancient, fictional battlefield, and the seven demon lords from his pen have awakened to become his true allies. Set against the rivalry among the states of Yan, Qian, and Chu, Zheng Fan rises from a lowly military household, serving successively as commandant, city garrison commander, Earl of Pingye, Marquis of Pingxi, Prince of Pingxi, and finally regent. He contends with forces such as the Marquis of Jingnan, Tian Wujing, and the Zhenbei Army, ultimately helping Yan unify the Xia lands, then retires at the height of his achievements and opens a tavern called the Drunken Life Tower. The novel is built on the framework of conquering the world with demon lords, blending dynastic intrigue, battlefield strategy, and slice-of-life comedy, and shapes vividly distinct demon lords such as Blind Bei, Mo Wan, Feng Siniang, Xue San, and Liang Cheng. The power bond between the protagonist and the seven demons is also a key setting in the book's combat system. The work has been adapted into a same-name comic and an animated comic.
