Summary

Ghost Grandmaster is a long suspense and supernatural novel by Qi Qi, serialized on Qidian Chinese Network from the 2010s and completed on March 22, 2014. Starting from strange rural incidents, he is drawn into a series of eerie events—walking in the underworld, summoning souls, corpse-driving, zombie magical battles, the wrath of the river god's dragon, tomb ghosts and shamans—and is gradually pushed into the torrent of a chaotic age. He crosses paths with real historical figures such as Zhu Yuanzhang and Chen Youliang, assists the Ming army in magical combat against the demonic forces controlled by the Mongol imperial preceptor, distinguishes yin from yang, recognizes demons and monsters, and drives out ghosts and spirits, ultimately becoming a "ghost master" of his generation. The work retells the contest of warlords at the end of the Yuan in the manner of zhiguai tales, weaving folk taboos and talismanic magic together with historical romance, balancing marketplace flavor and jianghu flavor, with a vivid supporting cast and alternating humorous passages and chilling atmosphere. The final chapter, which goes overseas in search of immortality, closes somewhat hastily, and is the part readers discuss most.
