The Knight of the Knight King

The Knight of the Knight King is a long alternate-history web novel by Guardian Star Envoy .QD, serialized on Qidian Chinese Network starting February 13, 2012, and completed on June 8, 2014. It runs about 1,229,900 characters in 373 chapters and is categorized by Qidian under "Foreign History," with the tags "technical style" and "comeback historical legend." The novel's core premise is "what if King Arthur really was a woman, as 'a certain mushroom' speculated," retelling the legendary age of Britain from the angle of a historical "gap." The protagonist, Li Wei, is a modern high school student who has just finished the college entrance exam and accidentally travels to medieval England, where he enters the world of knights and kingship as an ordinary person: he faces a knight king who bears the name of king in the body of a young girl, is asked the question "Are you my knight?", and then draws step by step closer to becoming a "qualified knight" through training, warfare, and political maneuvering. The book is divided into three volumes—Growing Up in Britain, The Knight's Path, and The France Soy Sauce Volume—with a main plot involving the time-travel setup, knight training, Viking conflicts, British political struggles, and the founding of the Knights of the Round Table, and interactions with characters such as Artoria, Bedivere, Gawain, Kay, and Merlin; it also includes a "Holy Grail War" series of side stories about Li Wei being summoned as a Heroic Spirit and intersecting with Matou Kariya, Matou Sakura, and others. The work blends fantasy elements into a framework of historical research, unfolding a "rewrite history" coming-of-age story with technical-style deduction and chapter-based narrative.
