Overbearing

Overbearing is an urban novel by web author Fu Zui, set against a modern city backdrop and centered on Ma Yunhui, the thirteenth young master of the Ma family. An accident six years earlier endowed the boy with aptitudes and cultivation talent far beyond the ordinary; starting from the most basic fist techniques on the family training ground, he astonishes his elders with almost "freakish" numbers, is regarded as the hope of the Ma family line, and learns endurance and ruthlessness in the family's way of survival. Six years later, a violent upheaval stirs up a storm of blood, and the returning man is no longer the green boy of old; under the name "Overbearing," he lives out the declaration of "sweeping aside every obstacle that dares block his advance." The story unfolds along two threads—growth and revenge: on one hand, key conflicts such as the contest over the thousand-year blood ginseng, cultivation of innate qi, an attack on the northwestern frontier, and the extermination of the Lu family, with the protagonist crushing rival clans by force and maneuvering among many factions by cunning; on the other, the gradual unveiling of the web of conspiracy surrounding him, as he crosses blades with Duanmu Jing, Mistress of the Blazing Flame Palace, the Tiangang Sect, the Heavenly King Legion, Tianhe City, and many other forces, until at last the name "Blood Blade" stirs up the winds and clouds. Throughout, the book runs through martial cultivation, power struggles, and contests over resources, shaping a protagonist who is decisive in killing and follows his own way, and displaying the law of the jungle in the city's dark underbelly. The book runs about 1.8 million characters and is a completed long-form web novel.
